Kitchen Redesign.....In the Showroom!

There's a home renovation on the horizon and it's in need of a kitchen redo.  This is where it all begins!  On this trip, General Contractor/Designer Mindy of the DM Irish duo, met with the professional staff of Reese Kitchens in Fishers.

There are so many options when putting a kitchen together.  Before making a final decision, Mindy's #1 tip is to study magazine pictures, visit model homes, and surf the Internet to find inspirational kitchens that strike your fancy.   What kitchens do you keep going back to?  If you collect pictures over time, pay attention to how consistent you are with a certain look.....that's likely your style!

We love the kitchen layouts throughout this showroom.
Dark, light, bright, and in between!

A great design always comes with a master plan.
This is the behind-the-scenes of a kitchen in the works!

All levels of cabinet brands, styles, door fronts, and stains....and don't forget the counter tops and door hardware, too!  Again, know-before-you-go to keep from getting overwhelmed!

.....and then there was one!
We keep landing on the white cabinets
and may just throw in a dark island just to spice things up!

Stay tuned for an upcoming virtual, dusty boots tour
as we start down the path of this home renovation!

Indianapolis Keystone Towers Demolition

DM Irish took the crew down early to see the Indianapolis Keystone Towers implosion today!  Located off of Fall Creek Road, just south of 46th Street, the towers have seen better days.  We heard the popping of the explosives at 8AM on the dot, bringing the building down quickly and only lasting 15 seconds from start to fall.  We came to see this event because we knew it would intrigue our kids, but also because it's been a housing topic of interest and concern in the Indy area in the past few years.

Behind The Scenes......
Built in 1974, the builder/developer had a vision of a multipurpose building that some say was really ahead of its time.  It housed apartments, offices, retail, entertainment, and parking areas.  Many people called this place home and enjoyed its great views of the tree-lined Fall Creek setting.  Unfortunately over time, the building went through several owners and was struggling to be maintained.  It became a haven for crime and was taken over by the city in 2008, eventually ending in demolish on August 28th, 2011.

If Walls Could Talk.....
As fascinating as it was, we're saddened by the fact that this was home for many people at one time.  No builder ever spends the time and money to construct a project with this end result.  May the memory of this building be that of those from its better day and we're hopeful for this location to be transformed into a space that enhances this great city!

Foreclosure Friday, 8.26.11

Times are hard and many people have lost their homes due to the challenges in the economy.  "Foreclosure Friday" is our way of bringing awareness to the availability and potential of distressed properties in the Central Indiana area.  Buying a distressed home, whether if it's in Short Sale or already Bank Owned, is a great way to help stimulate the economy.

Here Are A Few Of Our Reasons Why:
-Sellers/Banks are able to depart from their current home
-Jobs are created for Realtors®, Contractors, and Suppliers
-Neighborhood home values can be regained
-Buyers may get a positive equity position
-Lonely homes get happy homeowners!

Our short list of distressed properties below are currently active on the market in the Indianapolis area.  DM Irish does not own, nor have these properties listed, but rather is being a resource for what's available to purchase.
Stay tuned biweekly as we pass along homes in the area that might be a good match for you!

New Home Walk Thru with Realtor and Builder!

Realtor® Dan Irish recently met with one of his buying clients to do a preclosing walk thru on a new construction Beazer home in Westfield.  This walk thru was with the client, agent, and builder for new homeowner education and to answer any questions prior to the home's closing.  Dan took notes and is passing on great info for others considering a new construction home!

-For energy star rated homes, during winter months, open windows slightly on a regular basis to keep condensation off the windows and allow the home to breathe.

-When preparing for winter months, detach all hoses from hose bibs to prevent water from freezing and expanding in the lines and bursting the pipes.

-Take special care of all mechanicals by changing the furnace filters regularly, and following manufacturers recommendations for caring for the water heater.

-If your garbage disposal gets jammed, use the manufacturer supplied tool to apply to the exterior bottom of the disposal and turn the blades in the reverse to unclog the jam.

If you've got questions about building/buying new construction
and using a Realtor® in the process, you can always Get In Touch With Dan Here!

The DM Irish Real Estate Blog!

Once Upon A Time.......
This DM Irish Duo got their start in 2004 building custom homes.  Additional services of home renovations and interior design were added to their line up.  In 2007, Dan got his Real Estate license to help with the buy/sell transactions in their business.  At this point, the DM Irish adventure took a nice turn and Dan's real estate business grew to helping many others buy and sell homes and land in Central Indiana.  In August of 2011, they pulled his real estate division off the DM Irish website and created a new site just for DM Irish Real Estate.

This blog was started to highlight any and all projects that come along the DM Irish path!  House pictures, renovation projects, "Foreclosure Fridays", housing tips.....all things house and real estate will be the content of this blog!
